Emerald Ash Borer

Going on a nature travel adventure means actually caring for nature, however, nature faces a lot of threats from human beings, animals, and insects. Among the insects is the Emerald Ash Borer Colorado, which is a notorious invasive pest that is costing the US more than $120 billion every year as they try to control it in more than twenty states. This pest targets Ash tees since it can only grow inside those trees. There are characteristics that the beetle leaves in the trees it has burrowed through as their larvae grow. Once they blossom into beetles, they find their way out of the tree by chewing, leaving a “D” shaped hole at the exit. The lack of water circulation in the trees finally leaves them dead, since they cut off the water supply by chewing the inside of the trunks.

There is an effective treatment that must be applied every two years of the trees life, without skipping a single treatment or else it will all be a complete waste. Another option is to remove the Ash trees and replace them with other species of trees, and the last option is to enjoy the Ash trees while they are still alive, until the beetles finally kill them.

Nature is probably one of the best things that happened to this world and we should all take trips to appreciate and enjoy it for the reasons mentioned below. We should also look for ways of preventing it from threats such as the Emerald Ash Borer.
